What Finicr Academy Actually Teaches
Most trading education either explains concepts without ever testing whether you can apply them under pressure, or drops you into a simulator with no grounding in why the math works the way it does. Finicr Academy is built to avoid both traps. Five units teach the real mechanics and psychology of risk management, each ending in a short knowledge check, and none of it counts as complete until you’ve proven it in a live, adaptive simulation.
The Two Strands
Risk Mechanics covers the math, including expectancy, position sizing with R-multiples, the Kelly criterion, leverage and liquidation mechanics, and the mathematics of ergodicity and ruin. Trading Psychology covers the mind, including probabilistic thinking, process-over-outcome discipline, and what actually causes revenge trading. Both are taught together, unit by unit, because a trader who understands the math but not the psychology, or the reverse, tends to fail in exactly the way the other half would have prevented.
Why Simulation Comes After, Not Instead Of, the Lessons
The five capstone simulations aren’t generic drills. Each is built to match one unit’s core concept directly. There’s a Monte Carlo ruin simulator for the mathematics of expectancy, a live liquidation scenario for leverage mechanics, alternating R-multiple and Kelly-fraction sizing drills, a drawdown simulator that detects and blocks revenge-sized trades, and a side-by-side ensemble-versus-single-path simulator for ergodicity. Difficulty scales independently per skill based on your actual performance, not a single overall score, so a strength in one area doesn’t mask a weakness in another.
Track Selection Sets a Starting Point, Not a Ceiling
Beginner, Intermediate, and Pro set where each unit’s content and each simulation’s difficulty start. Beginner units include fully worked numeric examples. Intermediate leans on practice and self-check calculations. Pro compresses each unit to the formula and the one genuinely non-obvious insight, then tests it with a single applied scenario question instead of a multiple-choice quiz. From there, adaptation takes over regardless of track. A Beginner who’s performing well moves past Intermediate-level difficulty without switching tracks, and a Pro who’s rusty on one specific skill gets more reps there without losing standing elsewhere.
How Your Progress Is Stored
Academy progress, including your track, unit completion, quiz scores, skill levels, and simulation journal, is saved directly in your browser using localStorage, the same approach used by the Trade Journal tool elsewhere on Finicr. Nothing is sent to a server and no account is required. The tradeoff is the same one that applies to any localStorage-based tool, since progress lives on one browser, on one device. Clearing your browser’s site data, switching browsers or devices, or using a private or incognito window will reset it. If you want to preserve a long study streak, stick to one browser on one device for the Academy.
